No HITS Napa April 12, 2015

Well.... I didn't get up at 3:00am.  Didn't get on the road by 4:00am to drive the 87 miles up to Lake Berryessa for the HITS Napa Sprint triathlon today.   I didn't stand by the lake in the early morning waiting for the gun.  I heard that the lake temp was 56 degrees.. that's on the cool side for sure.  So.. I didn't round the buoys, or exit the water and go jump on my bike and ride as fast as I could to the turn around and back.  And didn't switch to my new HOKA ONE ONE awesome running shoes to run the 5K as fast as I could......I'm still nursing the wound on my hand, which became infected and scared me into going to a doctor.  I could not move my right arm without pain because the lymph nodes were so swollen.  Upshot is a week long dose of antibiotics and orders to not swim until it's completely healed.

I did, however, look at the race results this afternoon.. Congratulations to Karen Chequer-Pfeiffer!  First woman overall in a screaming 1:16:26... she's 57 years old and an amazing Hammer Sponsored athlete!  Second woman overall is 31, and came in a few minutes after Karen.... wow, I wish I'd been there to see that.. but wait.. if I had been there, I'd still be out on the course at that moment.

And I did dig out a pesky tree stump in my yard and start on a large hole to transplant a Bird of Paradise that has lived on my deck for years.. it broke out of it's ceramic pot... time to put it in the ground.

Congrats to all of the finishers both days this weekend in Napa.. I was sorry to miss the Spring HITS.
But... there will be more races....
